74. Like Bonnie and Hyde
I'm standing
at the rendezvous site
like we accorded
now
I'll start walking
in circles
waiting for you
at plain sight
I dropped our
presidents masks
in the container
down the alley
I got you
a Lyndon Johnson
but you insisted
on a Nixon
well that short pink wig
was surely
a nice touch, Milady
now I'm in a raincoat
boots, shades
and the inevitable
yankees cap
headphones on
a familiar beat
people passing by
the world
always looks
different
through our tune
nobody move
there's blood on the floor
suddendly
I had to disconnect
took one side off
I'm hearing sirens approaching
ambulances coming
I don't recall
hurting anyone
as we were running
away
my oh my
did we?
or am I
just a little
paranoid?
and this
doesn't help
I don't see you
around
I know
it's been minutes
but it seems
so long
did something
go wrong?
I've got your number
but I think
there was
a tacit agreement
that
no matter what
we wouldn't call
I'm still
holding
to the heist bag
it's full
of our memoirs
remember
here's your cut too
okay
I'll get in
and start the getaway car
roll
the windows
and a blunt
light it up
I'll use the hint
you once
shared
with me
hold it inside
when I see
people coming
and release it
in between
crowds
truth is
nobody notices
just like
no one else
sees things
the way
I do
only you
a car appears
on the horizon
full speed
it's you
but then I see
you got tail
I put it out
on my jeans
and make
a quick
U-turn
I notice
you saw me
your smile
comes to me
through my
back mirror
always
lovely
no matter
the circumstances
follow me
Milady
I'll take the lead
I know
this part of town
like the back
of my hands
we'll loose them
and we'll keep
on driving
into the dying sun
you know
like those movies
with
an open ending
as I was
daydreaming
about these things
I see you behind
and when
our eyes matched
you gave me
an accomplice wink
and draw a kiss
in your lips
then
you turned left
on that
last corner
why
would you do that
just to take
heat off of me?
I know
you want me
to keep on
and I don't wanna
spoil your plans
despite it
ain't easy
for me
so I guess
this is
where we part
I stopped
at that
supermarket
parking lot
I'll wait around
acting out
lay low-key
for a while
and hope
everything is fine
with you
which is all
I'm allowed
to do
I know
I'll get through
to you
somehow
whenever
you need it
though
I'm afraid
you'll be
so caught up
with life
that you won't
now is
every month
that I
catch some
signals of you
then
these months
will turn years
and years
will become
a lifetime
just
to think
we once
counted
time
by the minute
I'll hide
your part
under a slightly
different stone
off of
that wall
where
we first met
sometimes
I wonder
did we just
do it for the hype?
are we just junkies
of this high?
well
I still got it
inside
just like
the first time
you never told me
you wouldn't
let me know
so I might be
looking really
dumb by now
well
I guess this is it
this is your way
but hey
don't worry
I totally
get you
what else
can we do
anyway?
so
put
a smile
upon your face
illuminate
rooms
and wipe
out ordinary
like you
always do
I have my half
under three locks
and if I ever have to
I'll burn it
and bury
the ashes
deep underground
where nobody
can ever
find it
I'll open it
today
one last time
to reminisce
your sweetness
and fragrance
and let it
take over
my day
as far as I'm
concercerned
you're still
around
even
if you're
not
this
has been
beyond
anything
I could
ever ask for
you made me
remember
the feeling
I had
lives ago
all
because
of you
everytime
I will be
the happiest
just to see you
smile your
heart out
through
the journey
you have yet
to walk
all
I can do
this time
is to
thank you
and
admire
your
wonderful
being
from
wherever
I'm standing
