22. Our Little Havana Club Mirage

As the first note
of that
salsa song
hit
the piano key

Your image
on that
wednesday afternoon
hit
my heart

More of a
soft landing

gliding over
the golden sands
of that beach
where we meet
at night
as we sleep

Lately
I missed you there

I just sit alone
and watch
the frozen waves
waiting for
you to rise back up
breaking
the horizon line

My heart
has no room
for sadness now
for it is overflown
with
the joy
your little memoirs
give me
as I pick them up
one by one
in the order
you dropped
them
in
your
unforseen
departure

So
I sit and gaze
at your
vanishing point
with
high hopes
and
little certainty
of finding
you
